Mindful Self-Discovery
FAQs
-
Hypnotherapy is a practice that uses hypnosis, or the “trance-state,” to reach your goals. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind in which the deeper mind, the subconscious mind, is more active and the conscious mind is less active. This practice is designed to access the subconscious mind so that long-lasting, meaningful change is possible.

Most any constructive goal is appropriate for clinical hypnotherapy, including physical performance, mental-emotional well-being, spiritual growth, relationship building, creativity and problem-solving, academic performance, athletic success, job performance, and so on.
-
Clinical hypnotherapy allows your mind to slow down the “inner chatter.” Your mind becomes more receptive to new experiences, insights, and action plans to meet your specific goal.
-
When you are hypnotized, your imagination is more vivid and includes all senses -- sight, smell, sound, touch, taste, and feeling. In this state, your experience is guided by the hypnotherapist in specific ways to address your goal.
-
Yes, you will remember everything that happened during the session.
-
Clinical hypnotherapy is always an individualized, self-discovery process. Change is facilitated by the hypnotherapy sessions; however, the timelines are variable. The timing of your “change process” is determined by your desire and readiness to change. The stronger your desire, the more you will practice. The more you practice, the more your mind opens to new experiences, insights, and action plans.
-
Your conscious mind is your "thinking mind.” It is necessary when you are learning a new task, when you are performing under unpredictable circumstances, when you must be careful about the words or actions you choose, or some other situation when you must be fully attending to the step-by-step process.
In contrast, your subconscious mind is your “auto-pilot mind.” Bodily functions-- like your heart rate, digestion, and physical healing—happen automatically due to the deeper, subconscious functioning. Your habits, memories, emotions, and belief systems are also seated within your subconscious mind. Each one of these aspects can significantly influence your success in accomplishing your goals.

As long as you are willing to be gently guided by the hypnotherapist, you can receive benefits from hypnotherapy. Remember, hypnosis is a natural experience…the “in the zone” or “day dreaming” state of mind. All of us go in and out of the hypnotic state several times a day.
-
While in the hypnotic state, you are fully aware of your surroundings. Most often, your eyes are closed, but you continue to hear, smell, and feel your surroundings. If an emergency happens, you will immediately open your eyes and take action as needed.

All fees for hypnotherapy must be paid at the time of service by cash or debit/credit card. Commonly, insurance companies do not cover hypnotherapy services; however, I would strongly encourage you to discuss your policy with your agent. Also, a Health Savings Account (HSA) may be an option to consider. I can provide you a receipt for you to submit a claim for hypnotherapy services.
